Short Story Writing:
Seven Stories Competition
Students will meet each session to discuss, share and develop their own creative writing. Each session will run as a workshop with activities aimed at developing student’s creative skills. Additionally, there will be opportunities for students to share their writing with peers and receive feedback.
What will you cover in this enrichment
Week One - What is creative writing?
Why it matters, intro and plan of project and the purpose of the craft. Inspiration and creative practice.

Week Two - Character
The who of your writing - personality, backstory and motivation.

Week Three - Dialogue
The purpose of speech, accent and voice.
​
Week Four - Plot- the story!
What happens and why that matters. narrative structures and how to break them.
​
Week Five - Editing
Critique, re-reading and drafting - polishing up your pieces.
​
Week Six - Final project
The completed work! Reflection, next steps and careers.
